I'm looking for a Hard LCD protective case cover for Nikon D3S. It was not provided when I bought my camera and I purchased it separately. It was a Hoodman H-CAPD3 Hoodcap LCD to protect my LCD display for my Nikon D3S camera. You can have a look to what I mean in the following link:
Amazon.com : Hoodman H-CAPD3 Nikon D3 Hood Cap : Camera Lens Hoods : Camera & Photo
Unfortunately I lost the one I had and it is impossible to find a new one as the product was discontinued. I'm also interested in a used one/second hand.

The year (2011/12) I bought my D3S and D3X, I got them both
with the original Nikon protective screen. Right out of the box,
their screen were snapped on… and are still there.

So many little things like that that are provided by third parties…
Down the line, one is happy to have spent a few pennies more.

Try Giottos Aegis M-C Schott Glass available from B&H, but they're currently out of stock, 2-4 week wait.  Maybe try e-bay.

Well I also bought my D3s in 2011/2012 but apparently here in Europe they were not supplied with the hard plastic cover, though there are slots around the display for this purpose. The one from Hoodman was just great....but they don't produce them anymore. I will never understand today's business models....just keeping manufacturing new stuff, constantly, and discontinue former models vas soon as possible and spare parts as well to force customers buy new on and on. From an environmental standpoint this not very sustainable!

Thanks! I looked at that one and was reading the reviews which are pretty good, though of course it is not a cover but more like a strong glass that you would stick on the display. I guess the strips are tacky and once it is on it is difficult to remove. Something does puzzle me though. Reviews are saying perfect fit but when I look at specifications it says dimension 1.92 x 2.60" / 48.70 x 66.15 mm but on the D3S the display dimensions are  54 x 69 mm! So, is it really a perfect fit?

I can't answer that as I don't have a D3 series camera.  Vello is another brand you can look into, they make protectors for a variety of cameras including a generic 3'' diagonal screen which measures the same as the Giottos above, but the price is lower and they are available to ship now from B&H, ($14.95 U.S.D.).  Maybe another option is the Vello acrylic protector for the Canon 5D MkII which measures 56X69mm and being acrylic it could possibly be trimmed to 54X69mm.  B&H-$7.95 U.S.D. in stock.

It might be worth getting the cheap JJC cover for the D850 from Photax and check of it can be made to fit. SEK 59 isn’t much to risk.

Ok thanks! I'll check these. I also contacted B&H with my concern regarding the size. We'll see what they answer.

Well I connected to Hoodman regarding the H-CAPD3 Hoodcap LCD and they confirmed that they don't manufacture this plastic cover. However I found 2 good alternatives: A strong protective film and a strong protective glass. Not at all expensive! I found the first one in Germany and the second one in France. Both are fitting perfectly the D3S LCD display (actually the main LCD display on D3 and D3X has the same size but not the small display below, beware of that!).

2x Screen Protector for Nikon D3S-Anti-Shock 9H Foil Dipos Glass Plastic Glass | eBay

This is the crystal clear version but it does exist too as an antireflexive film:

Screen Protector for Nikon D3S Film Anti-Shock Matte Screen Protector Display Film | eBay

Protection Ecran LCD Visière pour Appareil Photo Nikon D3 | eBay

The only possible issue with that one is that it covers the "Nikon D3S" name at the bottom of the display but I don't care. Won't impact camera performances!

I purchased both and received everything last week. I guess I'll try one of each on my 2 D3S cameras.
