I have a AF Nikkor 80-200mm 2.8 D/ED lens and would like to know which tripod mount I need to get. Bough one on Ebay and it dosen't fit. Is there a model # that I need to look for? Thanks for any help.

It is best to look for an ArcaSwiss type of mount and a plate
long enough to balance the combo as much as possible.

Which version is your lens? Is it the push-pull or a two-ring that has lost its collar?

 

Kirk used to make a ring for the push-pull, but it seems to be discontinued.

It is the push pull and yes went to your link and its out of stock. What is this Area Swiss mount and where could it be found.

What is this Area Swiss mount and where could it be found.

That mount requires that there is a collar to attach to… but you have none.

The only chance I see is with a rail that will attach to the camera and the lens
rests on a support on the rail. I made this one for my son…

That looks like it would work for me. Would you mind giving me your instructions on making it and the material that you used? Also my tripod is a Manfrotto model 3021BN if that helps. Thanks for all the help.

You could use the longest AS base plate you can find — 15~20 cm
long — as a rail avoiding the limitations of proprietary brand plates.

They are available through different makers and retailers.
