I have a Vintage 20ft 6M Air Shutter Release which I used in my 35mm film camera days. It has the standard mechanical screw-in cable release.

Does anyone know of a device which can adapt this for use with my D3300?

We used to make our own from beechwood and a velcro strap. Shape the bottom so it fits on the top of the camera, add something to key it in place. Carve away so you have some clearance over the shutter button. Drill a hole so the remote shutter release hits the shutter button dead center and thread the conical thread in. Attach your new contraption firmly with the velcro strap. I don't have any left, otherwise I'd show you a photo. I used them on analog compacts, but there is no reason why it shouldn't work on a DSLR.

Ah, I thought this would be the only solution by creating a "contraption" as you put it :-)

I'll certainly look into this and many thanks "Merco_61" fo getting back to me on this.

Best Regards!
