Hey guys,

I've got a Nikon FM2n which I love to shoot on a daily basis. I was wondering if you could recommend me a flash for it? Any small and portable flash would be amazing, like the one that is usually paired with the Contax G2

Thank you all again,
Sabino

Finding something as small as the TLA-200 with an Auto setting will be difficult.

I have mostly used Braun 370 potato-mashers and Metz 40 or 45 flashes with FM2 and FE2 cameras as they can provide so much light as well as just a little fill light. The Metz 40 is a Metz 45 head with 4 AA batteries inside and very compact for its power.

A nice flash that can do double duty for your FM2n and your D750 is an SB-800. It has the advantage over an SB-900 or SB-910 if you get an FE2 or an AF-capable body of providing TTL metering as well as the Auto or i-TTL of the later models.

Hi Merco,

What about a SB-22/23? They look really small

Thank you once again for your nice recommendations! You're always there!

They are really small, the problem is that the reflector is really small too and will give hard lighting as the SB-23 doesn’t tilt or swivel and the SB-22 only tilts. This means that you can’t bounce the flash to give softer light. They are better than nothing, but I tend to shoot with available light instead of using a too limited flash.

I liked the little Nikon SB-E for my smaller Film SLR's. I traded off the Nikon EM, but kept the flass for years.

They tend to be inexpensive.

The SB-15 is more capable, out about the same time as your camera-

But bigger.
