How to use D780 for HDMI output without timing out

I want to use the D780 to stream video.

 

We were streaming using the d780 as a third camera, with no operator for a static view.

 

We could not get the d780 to output to hdmi without the live view on, but after a certain amount of time, the live view shuts off and the hdmi output stops until we turn on live view again.

 

How can I output to hdmi with live view off OR keep live view from timing out?
