Hello,

I have just taken my first roll of Ilford HP5 film using my Nikon F501 camera.I have noticed that 2 of the frames have suffered with poor exposure. When using this camera with a yellow/orange/red filter do you need to make exposure compensation. There is no mention of filters in the camera manual.Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks.

As the meter is TTL, you shouldn't need to compensate for filters. As there is no matrix metering, you will have to identify light or dark backgrounds yourself and compensate manually. Following the meter will underexpose scenes with light background and overexpose when the background is dark as it tries to average out everything to a medium grey.
