Hello friends!
I work with motorsport/motorcycle sport and i need a nikon lens. Im actually shooting a borrowed canon 6d mkii with a 70-300mm sigma lens, but my own equipment is nikon, and i want to buy a longer lens, 300mm too. But, i have many offers. Which one is better? 18-300, 70-300, 28-300 or 55-300? i need a fast AF, VR and very sharp photos. I have a DX body, D300s with grip. all the photos are to be taken during daytime with a lot of light.
This photo was taken with a 500mm f4 on the d300s, but is almost impossible to shoot with that lens, since it doesen't have AF.
Sorry for any mispelling, english isn't my first language. Thanks for any advice!

I'd recommend the Nikon 70-300mm. Unfortunately, the AF-P DX version (that I use on my D7500) will not focus on a D300s but the AF-S FX version (that I use on my D750) will. If DX format is a must, the Nikon AF-S DX 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR could be an alternative but it doesn't get the highest marks for AF speed.

If you want very sharp photos shooting motorsports, you don’t need VR.
If the field of view you get on the 6D @ 300 mm is tight enough, you only need 200 mm on the D300s. This would mean that a used 70-200/2,8 would be the best choice if budget allows. Another better choice than the 70-300 consumer-grade telezooms would be one of the third-party 100-400 lenses. Either way, you will get faster AF than the AF-S 70-300 VR, which is otherwise a good lens.
