Hi everybody,

I am here to ask you if someone has never had a problem with one of the 2 slot in the Nikon FX system, particularly with the loved D750.

I had the camera since 2014 and I used the second slot only for the first year when I really was into weddings.

After that...never really used! Now I ve tried to put a SD card inside and I have the message that my SD card is locked even if is not.

I have tried with several SD cards and also with the slot 1 works perfectly.

I have tried hard reset, to blow some air inside and other things...

Do you guys have any tips for me?

Kind regards.

Daniele.

On SD cards the « lock » is triggered by the position of the small slider on the side, as you know.

In order to « read » what position the slider is in, there is a small electric switch in the cardslot at the position where the slider will be.

Check with a torch and a magnifying glass whether this switch is bend, broken or just stuck. You can check for the switch in the Slot 1 to see how it should normally look like.

If it is bend or broken it needs replacement by a technician, if it is « only » stuck you may (at your own risk) try to free it with a needle.

While checking for the switch also check whether there is no dirt in the cardslot. If the card can’t properly insert, the slider will not be in a good position to be read by the switch.

In addition to what Jerry correctly explained, a last point is the quality
of the SD card itself… since you did not mentioned anything about it.
