Just wanted to say Hi as I get started with my D800 and to initiate my participation at  NikonForums. I've experience with other DSLRs but the D800 buttons and menus are a bit foreign to me right now. Looking forward to sharing images.

It seems the top display is always "on", like in a standby mode, even when the switch is in the "off" position. I'd appreciate if someone could confirm whether this is normal or not for a Nikon DSLR.

Thanks Sportz2Pix - I always have a spare fully-charged battery so I expect this will never be a problem for me. Anyone have experience to advise how long a burst (seconds) the D800 can handle in raw before filling the buffer?
