I struck an unusual problem on a day trip to Marble Bar (Western Australia) recently.

All the photos I took on this day had an odd bluish tinge to them which I was fortunately able to correct with a bit of Photoshoppery. The before and after shots are below and after correction I finished up pretty close to what my eye saw.

The colours were the typical Australian palette of red dirt and bight blue sky and on the days before and after, shooting under similar lighting conditions the results were fine.

This shot was taken with my Nikon Coolpix B700, ISO 100, shutter speed 1/1,250 andf aperture of F3.5

Most likely the issue is linked to White Balance that went wrong.

Could it be that the White Balance setting was set to some specific values?

Did you shoot RAW or JPG?

If you shoot RAW it could also be that the RAW converter set the wrong WB. I had this occasionally in the past in Aperture. setting the WB to « Natural grey » (if I remember the setting), solved the issue for the photo.

In order to answer, having a print of the EXIF data would help.

I shot everything that day in JPG with the camera in "auto" mode which is how I mostly shoot holiday pics. White balance was in the default setting which worked just fine on the days before and after that one.

For a couple of the shots I did use a polarising filter but these came up with the same odd colour cast.

I will try to find the exif data - the last attempt did not end well.
