This is Fred. This friendliest of gentleman who paints on a frame
that is larger than he is and that's why he asks when he wants to
have it  turned around on a given side. He can work on this forest
even when it is upside down!

Another great bunch of portraits of some fantastic people!

 

Many years ago there was a fellow who would have his wheelchair parked outside a nursing home in Camphill/Lemoyne, PA.  I passed often on my way to my favorite camera shop near the location.  The home was right beside the road and almost every time, Herbie was there in his wheelchair offering a smile and waving to people passing bye.  If no rush I would sometimes stop and chat with him a few minutes.  Herbie was a friend to anyone who could spare the time to wave back or stop in.  It wasn't his disability that made Herbie special, it was his love for everyone.

"Ich bin dreizig!" said Elfie, the first shot on top. … and with a proud face,
she turned on her heels and left. That translates to "I am thirty!" It was her
birthday and boy did I have a surprise for her: her portrait I made yesterday.

I was almost overwhelmed by the spontaneous yet gentle hug it got me!
