Snapbridge to download to SD card

I've just changed my Samsung Android phone (from a J3 to a slightly better A40).

With the old phone, I could set Snapbridge to download the (compressed) photos to the SD card on my phone, but this is not working on my new Android, even when I follow exactly the same procedure to point the app to the directory I want on the SD card.

I have given the app permission to access storage. It works fine downloading to the internal storage directory (nikon/snapbridge). Any thoughts please?
