Browsing eBay and found a near mint FE-2. The seller had over 600 recommendations, at 100% satisfaction. All the views looked clean. This will be paired with my FM-2. Any comments about the FE-2 welcomed

You will either love or hate the match-needle meter in the FE-2. I very much prefer the FE-2 meter over the FM-2 one.

Make sure to carry spare batteries as the shutter will only operate on B and X speeds with a dead battery.

The FE-2 has the same Ai coupling as the F3 and F4, where you can flip the prong away to use stop-down metering with unmodified pre-Ai lenses. I am not sure if the FM-2 had this feature.

Personally, I loved match needle metering. Quickly adjusting exposure (either over or under the indicated exposure) and bracketing were a snap.

Thanks for the info. Years ago I used Canon F 1’s with match needle. Very accurate. One of the reasons I bought the FE-2.

It looks nice. A bit later than mine, does it still have the flippable Ai prong or is it one piece with the plastic ring?

Sorry for the late response, but the answer is plastic

Hi there, just got my fe2 body yesterday (just joined forum). Waiting for lens to arrive.

Would you mind breaking down your question? I'm not familiar with this ai question. My lens is ais, so don't think relevant. But curious. Thanks!

Early FE2-s have a metal tab for the Ai or AiS coupling. This can be unlocked and flipped away to use unconverted pre-Ai lenses. If you only have Ai and AiS lenses this doesn't matter.
