Amazing.

That's how the rooftops over here looked when I grew up but then "the cable" came and all these vanished.

Haven't seen that in a while  :)

Great looking b&w in it's own right.

Yes, it looks like any typical American city roof tops 40 years ago.  Good job of not only finding them, but photographing them as well.

That is the passion of the image hunter… a thing my daughter
still has a problem with. She thinks photos should be a quest
for beauty in all aspects and I repeat that it is not an absolute
matter of beauty but of story telling.

I go on: "Think of a beautiful girl that would have nothing to say!"
Of course, she talks a lot and plenty of good sense too but when
it comes to artistic intent and communication, this graduated from
the Diplomatic Institute in Vienna has some steps to go. :P :P

Thanks buddy!

Absolutely!  Often photographs are the only thing we have of the past and the way we lived.  Great job there!

Indeed, over the course of a few years (in hindsight) all were removed.

They form a risk for damaging the roofs during storms and attract lightning.

On the other hand, satellite dishes are now part of the city scene. Especially for those parts of the population still holding a strong connection to their motherland and not finding any of those on the cable channels.

These dishes find their place rather on the walls or on the balconies rather than on the rooftops.
