Hello,

I have a D5300 which is about 6 months old, but is a "Nikon Refurbished" model and so is out of warranty.

It hasn't bee dropped or subject to moisture.  When I turned it on yesterday it displayed a message saying:

"Metering Malfunction Detected.  Contact a Nikon-Authorized service representative."

I plan to do that, but figured I would start here and see if anyone had run into this issue and might have some advice.

The camera will now only take a picture in manual mode and I mainly do sports photography so that is not very useful.

Thank you,

Mike

I have shot sports photography for many years primarily using manual mode.  What is the issue with manual?
