The best $30 investment in camera gear ever. The rig as pictured with 600mm f/4 ED-IF AIS Nikkor, D850 with grip, gimbal head and carbon fiber tripod tips the scales at about 25 pounds. This is my go-to rig for nature photography and although the weight does not really bother me the sharp edges on the tripod and even the legs dig into my shoulder when I carry it for long distances and it gets rather uncomfortable. This pad makes carrying it a pleasure!

Yes, a very cool solution for better comfort. :P

I opted for this kit. It has a similar purpose and it helps
keeping hands away from the cold legs in winter.
