Hey all,

just signed up tonight because there was a question I had that I couldn’t find the answer to so I thought I’d ask it here.  I started shooting in high school on a Canon EF 35mm, and learned how to develop my own film.  After high school I took a break (read: went to school, became an adult and started working) and forgot about photography.  I met my wife and her military career brought us to Alaska.  My stepfather was always into photography and always had Nikons.  Throughout my late 20s and early 30s I would occasionally get his hand-me-downs when he upgraded and I would go through spurts when I got a new camera, but it never stuck.  He passed away about 2ish years ago and I inherited all his Nikon stuff.  It was older stuff like a D70 and a D80 and a bunch of the DX lenses.  About 3 months ago I started shooting again and bought myself a D7500.  I found that I remembered how much I enjoyed photography and started going online to read and get reacquainted.  I started shooting landscapes and found myself going out after work and on days off more and more.  I then got my wife into it and got her a D3500 as she had never owned a camera of her own and didn’t know the first thing about photography.  She is not in week 4 of a 6ish week 1 on 1 beginning photography class with a great instructor, and she is loving it.  While looking up photography related things online I came across the New York Institute of Photography and decided to take their Professional Photography course.  I likes]d the structure of the lessons over going out and watching a bunch of YouTube videos.  I just graduated 3 days ago and I decided to splurge and get myself a D850.  Since I got the D850 my wife has taken over the D7500..  We just got orders to Japan and seeing I don’t speak Japanese, I am going to try my hand at photography as a full time gig.  I hope to learn a bunch from this forum and I’ll see you all around!

I was looking forward to some Alaska shots, haven't been there since ..1979? Wow. Amazing scenery in which to learn some new gear. Japan has some incredible scenery of a different sort, such an enduring civilization to learn and capture. Enjoy the new experiences, and the new gear!
