Good evening everyone!  Just joined the site and have searched the internet for the answer to this question. I recently got a D850 and I have a question.  I was playing with AutoISO in M mode and I noticed that the light meter isn’t showing up.  Is that simply because the camera is changing the ISO based on with it is seeing and it removes that info from my view?  Or am I doing something incorrectly?

M have been shooting in M mode for as long as I have been shooting (my old 35mm really only had M mode!) but the lack of the meter is something I’m curious about.

Thanks for the help!

Every set up is part of a strategy… or should be.

If you choose M (preselected ƒ and SS), Auto ISO, and possibly
auto WB, you're heading for a P&S camera. Even in such case,
the light meter is still showing.

Aren't you talking about P Mode?

Oooooh no! P mode is not a strategy but the absence of.
P&S behaviour is a strategy.

I misinterpreted your original comment. The sentence structure confused me, I guess.

"This is not my language… just trying to use it!" is in my signature and it
is a real warning of my sometimes low level… sorry about that!
