I have and enjoy my Nikon D500. I was given a 500mm mirror lens as a gift for the camera. I am laving a devil of a time trying to get it to work I have told they would work together. I haven't been able to find any information on settings or how to do it. Can anyone help?

It might also help to tell us what problem you are having with it in case others have had similar issues with a lens. The lens information might help too since someone may have that equipment.

I have the 500mm ƒ8 catadioptric too and, D500 or D… whatever,
it is still an F mount… so, compatible.
ƒ8 is a fixed aperture, this because it is catadioptric. It can focus so
close that one can almost call it "macro".

We can also only assume that the 500mm lens is an F-mount as the OP did not specify..

Yes, the oldest version was a F mount. A later version was a smaller
diameter lens — the one I have — but it kept all other characteristics.

Nikon Shooter, 800/8 cats were made in large numbers by most of the third-party manufacturers. The Nikon is quite rare in comparison.
Did you mean the 500, Peter?
Yes, in the old days, a friend bought a third party that
was even smaller than the new (then) Nikon version.

The OP never specified a Nikon made lens or a Nikon mount...the point is that we would at least have to know the OP's lens information a bit better before we could safely provide input. Of course, it has been several days since the OP's question so they may not care about any of this any longer.
