What the heck canon road map has F/11 for 800mm and 600mm for mirrorless body. how will you shoot in cloudy or over cast or area that has really bad shadow

Right off the bat, the nomination suggests a fixed aperture
of ƒ11… that means that something is very wrong in this.

Knowing that AF systems are working best in high contrast
situation, this can't work at all.

Not a lot wrong with f11 for a mirrorless contrast based focusing system its if you need to use phase detect it could be a problem, the main problem i see is unless some drastic improvement is made in contrast-detect for lock-on speed you would need to use phase detect for action captures.

Canon will know all the downsides so i guess they have a focus system in the wings that will cope, interesting to see

Hmmmmm!  I think the new Canon 600mm should be lighter than a Nikon 300 pf, or in 1000$ range. doesn't make any sense. ??

I'm sorry but a fixed aperture at F 11 is nuts. A fixed aperture at any F stop is nuts.

I have seen the 800 in action at the air show two weeks ago. The IS is impressive, even if it doesn’t work together with the IBIS system. The AF performance was less impressive as the small aperture together with the low contrast made for many missed shots.

Shots from the day before were fine, though.

The pair of DO elements make it a cheap and cheerful supertele, as long as the light cooperates by not being too soft.

Buying a cheap supertele will always bring some kind of trouble for the user, but it is probably better than putting a 2X converter on a 100-400.
