Only getting limited function with the snapbridge app on the A1000

Hey guys I just bought the Nikon Coolpix A1000 and im having problems with the snapbridge app. The only thing I can do with it is take pictures, cant adjust any settings or record video with the app. Im pretty annoyed because I read a lot of reviews before buying the cam and not one mentioned this being an issue.

I updated to the newest firmware and have tried unpairing and repairing but no luck. Is there any way to fix this or should I just get a new cam?
