I tried this one before, but couldn't figure it out... Looking for some critiques and advice on composition, equiptment and if anyone has used focus stacking techniques and wich software to investigate.

Great shots!  I love that the insects are at eye-level, makes them look like portraits.

Fantastic shots.

What is your lens and how do you manage to set up these shots?

I used nikon 105/2.8 macro lens...d800 in dx crop mode... Most of the pics are shot hand held in a local conservation area...it's amazing what one can see when looking

I have the 40mm macro. I'm going to set my D7100 in 1.3x mode, auto-ISO, and try this next opportunity I get.

I've got the tamron 70-300 macro zoom, i'm also going to try this out as the first opportunity, I like the fact that the 7100 has the cropped mode, should make for some interesting pics. Not sure I'll find any insects about in the freezing weather we have in Scotland this week. But I'll have a look.

I just got back in from my yard. No insects, but a couple of lizards.

Well here is the belly of a dead roach that I found under my desk. Don't get more random than that.

The most I like photo # 9. I think it is good composed and it have details, that is necesseire for macro photography. All other photos also have it, but #9 shows it in the best way.

Great detail, but really pleased that I have not just had my breakfast.

Personally I think 3 and 5 could use a bit more space around the subject. Overall I like them all though. Good shots.
