Hello all I have been using a Nikon D3100 for 8 years now and love my camera. Recently I bought second Body ( Used Nikon D3100) When it arrived I looked it over and tested it out over all it seems to work as it should but there is one small issue that is bugging me.  When looking through the Optical view finder with the lens on there is this " tunnel Vision " thing going on, but when you take a photo the photo is normal no "vignetting" ( tunnel vision). When you turn on the live view ( LCD display ) this "tunnel effect" or "vignetting" is not there. I know its not an issue with my lens as this does not happen with my other D3100 camera.  I am including a few photos and will also try to include a Video of issue.

I have given the camera in question a good look over and the only thing that seems amiss about it is that the Focusing screen seems to be missing.  Could this be the cause of my problem? The problem is very obviously in the optical view finder and not the lens or the camera guts.

I am just trying to pen point the issue to see if its a simple fix or some thing it has to go back to Nikon to fix.

Having never had a D3100 nor any Nikon DSLR without a focus screen, I can't say for sure, but that certainly sounds like something that might cause the problem you are experiencing.  I would definitely get that issue fixed first to see if it fixes your viewfinder problem.

I remember the modular F bodies, all with interchangeable focusing screen.
If you order a new one, you could built it in yourself.

Thank you for your reply's I have a replacement focusing screen on order so we will see if it helps correct the issue.
