These were all processed in LR.

When I did my b&w conversions in LR, I normally started by working on tint and temperature in order to "split" the Red, Blue and Green as seen in the histogram.

Then I added Clarity and Vibrance. a lot  :) .

The result of this in colour is not really nice to see.  At this point, I used the Convert to B&W.

Add Contrast as the image "needs" it.

I also liked to add a Split toning effect.

Or just Shadow Hue and - Saturation. Like in the 1st image in this set.

 

LR is really easy in that it shows you exactly what you are doing an everything is reversable, You can revert to any point in the History an choose a different path.

The more you use it, the more intuitive it feels.
