200mm medical lens

hello i wondered if someone could help me , i have a nikon d 810 and the d500  and i have just recently bought a 200mm 5.6  medical lens and i have used it on both cameras the lens appears to be working i have used it both on manual mode and apputure priority and even though i move the apputure ring on the display on both cameras it just shows E on the display i thought as you move the apputure ring it would display the apputure i would like to get it on F45 if possible can anyone give me some advice please kind regards ian

Aren't the Medical 200/5.6 pre-Ai in all versions?

 

I am not sure if the rear of the lens even clears the Ai coupling on your bodies. Check with a feeler gauge that there is clearance before you use the lens again as it might break your cameras.

thanks for your reply the lens fits both the d810 and d500 it seems to work but no aperture on display it will be a nice lens once i get to grips with it thanks for your reply
