I need some help with capturing star trails. I tried doing my best but the results were not satisfying. My question is why the image is brightened up? I mean I want a photo in which I see only star trails on black dark night sky. How to perfectly capture it? Here is my shot. Please help.

If you can tell us the shooting data (aperture, shutter speed, ISO and shooting mode), it would be easier to guess what went wrong.

I think your shutter speed is too long for the relatively wide aperture and your ISO. You want that slow shutter speed to capture the trails, so you need to close the aperture down a bit or use an ND filter.

Closing the aperture down too far will give less defined trails because of diffraction, but f/11 to f/16 is usually safe, depending on your sensor.
