I am a hobbyist photographer with minimal knowledge on camera functionality. I’ve had my Nikon D5500 for roughly 4-5 years, use it occasionally and have never had any issues with it before.
I used my camera during the day yesterday as I was being a tourist in Philadelphia, no problems at all. When I got home to snap a couple of pictures of my dog I realized the shutter release button didn’t half-press to focus anymore (I shoot in auto) it clicks down and snaps the shot.
After pressing it a few times to see if it was error on my part (if I was perhaps not pressing lightly enough) the screen read “! Card Is Full” so I pressed the playback button to delete a few. The camera did not respond, then I realize none of the buttons respond (menu, info, live view, touch screen) but when I spin the shooting mode, it does respond corresponding to the mode on the screen.
I’ve removed the battery for a few minutes and reinserted, I’ve tried a different battery altogether and tried to factory reset (menu & info button) but nothing helps. Am I missing something? It is so random.
