So I'm getting the well discussed shutter error message on a Nikon D40x I picked up for $10 a few days ago. The issue I'm having is it's symptoms are quite different than anything I've found online. The shutter fires, mirror returns down and takes the picture but still gives the error. Every time I press the button again it takes another picture. If I fire without a lens attached or with a non AI lens it works fine and I get zero error. Any idea of what the issue is would be helpful. I repair cameras as a hobby and have no issue taking it apart and replacing parts. I'm just not sure where to start.
