Hey all,

I connected my D3500 to my laptop via USB to download my pics but the camera is not detected by windows. I have tried two different windows laptops with same results. Do I need to enable something on my camera for USB to work? I didn't find anything in the manual. On other DLSR's they would automatically be detected by Windows Explorer.

Any ideas?

Thanks

If you are trying to connect it in order to transfer images, most folks will use a built in or USB attached card reader.  Much easier and faster than trying to hook up your camera...

Nikons don't have a mass storage mode. This means that they can't be used as card readers in Explorer. If you *have* to use a transfer cable, the Transfer utility that is a part of the free ViewNX-i software from Nikon works reasonably well.
