I picked up a DX 18-55 3.5-5.6 GII ED with a damaged flange today, and went looking on line for repair methods and found this video

It turns out you can get the flange ring for £2.49 from a Chinese seller so I've decided to give it a go. Is there anyone here who has done this? If so, are there any special problems I should be looking out for that aren't clear in the video?

Well, received it today and it was a bit tricky but nothing insurmountable. The main problem was that the cheap replacement ring I got didn't incorporate the stopdown mechanism (the one you get from Nikon has it), you have to transfer it from the old flange. Which shouldn't be difficult except that you have to detach and re-attach a small spring onto two teensy pegs and it's an utter sod - I must have tried about ten times before I got it right. Everything else is relatively simple provided that you keep control of things like screws, the position of the shim rings, etc. and it worked well once I got it right. Not bad for £2.49
