What camera?

Why do you need the cable? For tethered shooting, get a longer one than the Nikon standard cables. If you want to transfer files, a card reader is a better solution.

My coffee may not have been a Russian Strogonov 
for "strong enough" … I did not think of file transfer.

Of course, for that, a reader is the way to go!

I would like to use my pc as live view, and control.  i downloaded digicam control but nothing seems to be working,   i also get this notice  pc does not reconize device.  camera is a nikon d7100

Sure, not only can you use the camera but control it 
— perfect in studio work. What does not work is to
record to the card… instead, the shot is imported di-
rectly in CO's capture ƒ instantly and automatically.
