Hello!

Sometimes I get bored while doing "straight" product photos and then it begins... I start my research how to show product in a bit different "light".

All those pictures are straight from the camera - just a bit of contrast/brightness adjustment. Light effects are "natural" - no PS involved, and all are long exposures, more than 8 sec, no flash used.

All comments welcome :)

Tres cool. The products, being black, are a bit dark for me.

Very good, what camera/lens/settings did you use and what is the backdrop?

Great idea, setup, and overall look, but I must agree with Russ in that the products are too dark. The shadowy lighting in the 2nd photo prevents you from seeing the lettering on the lens barrel clearly.

I like the look and background of the first two much better than the last one, which I don't care for the angled light stream, or the reflection off centered in the lens glass.

Very interesting and not standart photo. I think shops should try to use exactly such photos.

Thanks for your comments, much appreciated :) I agree that some places might be too dark but its a matter of proper setup and light - so will work on it :)

With regards to setup:

Complete darkness, Nikon D300s on tripod + Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 @ f/10, manual focus, ISO 200, exposure 10-15 sec, WB as far as I remember around 8000K, many different sources of light. Background was a white sheet of A2 paper, but changed its colour accordingly to light colour :)

Below another pure long exposure try with different object and background :
