update to it. makes camera feel better in hand. but still have to use FTZ mount for monponds or tripods. unless have tilt head or other type of heads with with plate since lets you one have hooked to lens with circle bracket with plate to hook on to tilt head or types of heads. so do not have plate to hot to any hook to any type head. you will not be able to flat part of monopod or tripod so will need some type plate  to add to monopod or tripod tilt head or other type of heads. just glad make able to hold camera better. do the line will get battery grip since allows tripod or monopod under camera not FTZ mount

Doesn't seem like it adds much to the bottom of the camera. Why didn't you just get a Nikon Z series battery pack?

Does it have vertical controls? I would want shutter release, back button focus and control wheels in vertical use.

It isn't a vertical grip, just a grip extender. It is made for people who need a taller grip to avoid resting the corner on the camera on a nerve cluster.

What about the integrity of the water resistance with the battery?  Is it affected?

Thank you.

I don't believe that it connects to anything internally so water resistance shouldn't be an issue.

There is no gasket between the grip extender and the body and the battery door sits in the extender. This will theoretically affect the weather sealing.

There is nothing to stop you from applying a thin bead of caulking to the Meike, put tape on the bottom of the camera and tighten it down to create a seal if it worries you.

If the battery usually lasts for your shooting day, you can just leave the battery door in place and charge through the USB port.

since i own said item and love it. also all it does make better feel in the hands and not have to pay high price for hot swap batter grip with no buttons too.we will have no batter grip with buttons in for Z6 Z7 unless third party makes one. if you do not keep really tight fit to body water will get into battery area. since moves door to bottom of grip. so if you take ruler that we use in usa you see your one line below the 1 mark on ruler in space so be care full since door that far from where battery sits. also have 2 holes to use to screw in to tripod or monopod or like screw for my black rapid strap too. will come back in few days check on this topic again. if have any more i can give some
