Dear all,

please excuse me if this is not the right place for this issue. I am already part of the Nikon family and hope to get help or guidance here. In my practice, it is necessary to shoot people before / after, most often the face or parts of it. To do this, I picked up a Nikon d3400 camera and, on the advice of a friend, the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f / 1.8G lens. I am interested in what are the most appropriate settings for this type of photo (I attach one so you can navigate).

All photos are taken on a black background (canvas), include all or part of the face (lips, profile nose, etc.) All comments will be useful. Thank you in advance and wish you Marry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Best regards,

S.

There is really no specific answer to your question.  How well lit is the room?  Is there a window that will increase the light at certain times?

But the good news for you is that you have a digital camera.  You can take a photo in P (Program) mode and if that works for you, that is all that is needed.  However you can also use the settings the camera chose in P mode as a starting point for your "perfect" shot.  With those settings you can adjust the ISO, Shutter and Aperture to find the settings you want.

And all that costs you is a bit of time and some small use of a rechargeable battery.

Hello,

there is a big window just next to the place where I shoot, but mainly I take pictures at evening.

Best regards,

S.
