Yes, these lenses work just like modern Nikon lenses, so they should be compatible.

G-Type NIKKOR Lenses A G-type lens does not have an aperture control ring and are intended for use on Nikon D-SLRs that allow the lens aperture to be adjusted via the camera's command dial.

Because G-type lenses relay subject-to-camera-distance information to the camera, where it is used to help determine ambient and flash exposure, they are also considered to be D-type lenses. The lack of an aperture control ring is perhaps the easiest way that you can tell if a lens is a G-Type NIKKOR or not.

You have been misinformed. The D3s works with any Nikon compatible lens from the manual focus Ai lenses that were introduced in 1977 onwards. The only caveat is a few third-party lenses from the film era that need a firmware update for the AF to work. The lenses you have are much later than those. Your lenses have no aperture ring, making them G equivalent. They also have built-in silent focus motors, making them AF-S eqivalent.

if you get any nikon lens will work on D3'S but some need nikon to update them so can work on new camera. maybe mecro_61 can shine on this.
