Hi All, I am new to DSLR's and am trying (without luck) to set up Shooting Bank A for aperture priority to use  for general outdoor shooting and Bank B for manual to take flash photos.

I have followed the manual to the letter but the camera does not hold the settings. Can anyone give me an idiots (because I am) guide step by step help please?

I'm aware you have to be in a different shooting bank than that you are setting.

Thanks Dave

Too hard? you must be joking Dave! :P

I could try to help you but I never held the D3. Since a long time
I own and use the D3S and the D3X but I don't know if my expe-

rience can be of any pertinence.

Well it doesn't even tell you in the manual how to select shooting bank A,B,C or D!

Ok, let's try.

Enter the MENU, go to the CAMERA, the first item is the
SHOOTING MENU BANK.

Enter that by pressing the right side of the multiple selector
and there you are.

I take back my last post.........You need to assign the FUNCTION button and DIALS to select which shooting bank you want to use.

Yes Nikon Shooter.....But you try and put aperture priority in bank A and manual in bank B and nothing alters when you change shooting banks!

Select the bank you want to work on and press OK,
you are now in that bank.

Set MODE, ƒ, and SPEED for example and turn off
the camera. Select an other bank and see that the
settings are different.

Come back to the previous bank and it should be ex-
actly as you left it.

I am a very bad typer and I hate the exercise. So, if you
have Skype, this could be painless and done in a jiffy.

Don't call yourself an idiot… bad for MY ego! :P

UPDATE: I have spent hours trying to get the camera to save aperture priority mode in shooting bank A and manual in shooting bank B but it doesn't save it. If I change from A to M it does it in all 4 banks!!!

My D3 has the latest firmware.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers Dave

Happy New Year everyone....I have come to the conclusion that what I want to do can't be done on a D700 or D3 :(
