I am trying to get this lens repaired.   It doesn't focus well and the macro switch is very hard to move.

On the Nikon repair web site it asks what I am getting repaired.  I typed in what is above and nothing came up that allows me to click on it.

There is a number I found near the mount - US 290016,  is that the serial#?

Any help is appreciated.

John

Just guessing here but it's likely that, because of the age of this lens and the high probability that they no longer stock parts for it, Nikon won't even consider fixing it. Also, assuming that they did decide to fix it, the repair cost would probably be more than the lens is worth. Yes, the number in your post is the serial number.

So, it seems you have two choices. One, attempt to have the lens repaired by a third party repair center. Or two, bite the bullet and purchase either another copy of this lens or something newer that will work with your camera.

Is this the page you used? Nikon Service and Repair

Yes that is the page I used,  I think you are right that it is time to get a new lens.

Thanks for your input.
