I am new to this forum.  An old guy that shot film when my kids were growing up.....Pentax ME super.

Entered digital a few years ago with a D3300, two kit lenses, and a Tamron 18-200.

Until I invest in better glass, does it pay to step up to a more advanced body, d7500?

Welcome to the forum. Please tell us a little more about what you like to shoot and perhaps gives a few examples.

Welcome to the forums!

The latest two generations of the kit lenses are remarkably good as long as you stop them down a bit. If the kit lenses you have are the AF-S VR II versions, they work well on a D7200 or D7500.

The Tamron's weaknesses will be worse on a D7200 than on the D3300, I am not sure if the lower res. and stronger low-pass filter in the D7500 are enough to make it acceptable.

The D7xxx series are *much* easier to use than the D3300 as the UI is button- rather than menudriven. The D7500 is about equally as demanding as the D3300 when it comes to lens quality, the D7200 much more. The D7200 with good quality lenses *will* produce more crisp results, though.
