I recently purchased an ES-1 Nikon Slide Copying Adapter to digitize 35mm slides. The ES-1 is intended for a Nikon 55mm f/2.8 macro lens. Therefore, I plan to purchase a used Nikon Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 lens with  52mm filter threads. The ES-1 will attach directly to the lens. In order to achieve a 1:1 focus ratio, it is recommended that a PK-13 extension tube be fitted between the camera body & the lens. Assumingly, this combination will provide a 1:1 focus ratio without cropping the 35mm slide.

Since I am venturing into virgin territory, I would appreciate any input from those of you who are familiar with the ES-1.

Thank you kindly,

Kit

I assume that you will be using an FX body for this.

When buying a used 55/2.8, check the aperture blades for oil streaks. For at least part of the production, Nikon used a grease that separates over time in these and the oil starts getting where it shouldn't, causing a sticky aperture.

The 55/2.8 only goes to 1:2 on its own, so you need the PK-13 to achieve 1:1 reproduction ratio.

What lighting setup will you be using? The ES-1 does an admirable job at getting even light  as the diffusor is good, but you need even light going in for best results.
