Seeing the electric green on the foreground driftwood,
I think you went too far with the saturation… try using
the tonal taming approach, the shot's worth it!

Your reply tells me you are shooting jpg, why not RAW?

Very much a novice w!hen it comes to post processing don't own Photoshop or lightroom trying to get my head around gimp I downloaded recently.

don't own Photoshop or lightroom…

 


Not a must, I am adobe free since years.

If you download this free Nikon program then set your camera to raw and jpeg you have the best of both worlds.

The program will display jpeg images with any in-camera adjustments you have made, you can export the jpeg to edit in any other program, the raw will still be there unedited and you can edit that later in any program when your confidence has built.
