Hi, I wonder if anyone else has this issue. D500 and SB-5000 speedlight.

Using aperture priority, auto ISO and 1/500 minimum shutter speed.

 

With the flash off, when light is diminished the normal happens. I.e. shutter speed stays at 500 and ISO increases.

 

However, with flash turned on the ISO stays at 100 and the shutter speed decreases. Not what I want. Flash has auto ISO on and in TTL FP mode.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Explore the TTL mode of the flash, that
will possibly simplify a lot of things!

… and the HSS feature eventually too.

What is your setting for custom function e1?

Does having a battery that is nearly depleted fit into the equation?

E1 setting is Auto FP.
