Hi!

I am going to start using my Nikon D90, which I never really used before.

To start, I ordered the following accessories, which I can't find at home

(1) LP EN-El3e Battery Charger Set

(2) SanDisk 128GB Extreme SDXC UHS-1 Card

And I found a USB cable:

(3) Nikon UC-4

Am I ok?

Finally, I cannot find any software. What do I need for PC uploads?

Thank you!

Dr. T

I don't know off the top of my head if the D90 supports that SD card.  You might want to confirm.  You probably won't need a 128GB card either.  Most folks use 32GB or 64GB.  When I was shooting sports (lots of frames), I had multiple cards and only filled up a 64GB twice when I tried to do it to see how many images I could get on it with different bodies.

Off the top of my head (again), I will assume that is the correct battery and charger.  At some point you may decide you want a second battery as a backup but definitely not something everyone needs.

You will want a USB card reader to hook up to your PC or Mac (if it doesn't have one built in) to transfer your images to the computer.  It is much easier to transfer and you don't have to use your camera's battery so you probably won't need that USB cable you mentioned.

Nikon makes editing software that is free for use.  If you are willing to pay for the software, you have many options and you can find info on many of the options here in various threads.

Dear TBonz,

Thank you for your reply!

I tried the charger and it worked ok.  By, the way, I also purchased a 2nd battery.

I haven't tried the new SD card yet, but the old card still works.  I'll get an SD card reader if I cannot find one I already have.

There was some talk at the time about the D90 working with SDXC cards, but only for stills, no video. I don't know as I have never owned one.

Dear Nikoman,

I used the 128GB SDXC and it worked!  The only difference is that instead of showing the number of pictures left, it shows 7k (whatever it means).

There is no room for the zeros, so the display says 7k for 7000.

Dear Nikoman,

Thank you!  7,000 pictures?  Wow!
