Technically speaking, the first photograph is perfect in terms of WB.
It reflects what was seen and is conform with the Colour Checker.

The second one has a twist to it: artistic intent. Exploring the impact
of discretionary application of one single parameter that will generate
a final version with a different outcome.

Which do you prefer?

I feel its the second one for me, looking at the two together in the same post the first looks very blue.

Absolutely legitimate, Mike, but do you fell the WB in the second
reflects a 14:06 h take? Sure, the warmer tones are very seductive.

Warm the blue up, cool the second one IMO but yes it does change the time of day.

Adding warmth to a photo like this can be seductive. It's a lovely photograph and I don't feel that adding warmth detracts at all from it. Artistic license.

However, after doing a bit of back and forth between the two versions, I believe that I prefer the first one better.

Artistic license… yes Ron, right on the button!

That was the weekend session theme where 31 attended the semi-
nar on post production — I was not hoping for such a great number
of paying photo club members to this full two hour presentation and
discussion.

I would not propose in my catalogue an image that is not consistent

between time of day and relative WB — though the spectrum may be
surprisingly wide as all know — this freedom is left to the AD as end
user.

TY Ron!
