Hello, Many thanks for letting me join the forum, I'm really grateful to be able to benefit from your knowledge.
The AF-S DX Nikkor lens (ED 18-55mm) which came with my D7000 has stopped auto focusing. It just motors in and out a bit and fails to fix on anything. Another lens I've got has no problem focusing with the same camera body so I'm pretty sure the lens is the problem. I've had to resort to manually focusing, which is fine and rather retro, but my eyesight isn't what it used to be and I'm sometimes grateful for the extra help.
Thinking I know more about cameras than I actually do, I bought what I thought would be a suitable replacement on a well known auction website - an AF-P DX Nikkor 18-55mm. This fits rather too snugly for my liking and doesn't seem to work at all with the camera body.
Is there anything I can do to help the new lens and camera body suit each other or have I bought a pig in a poke?
Might it be worth seeing if the original lens can be repaired?
Or where can I buy a suitable replacement lens and what letters and numbers should I look for?
Thanks in advance for any help.
