On my 5600 there are times when after I put a lens on the view screen says Lens not attached.  Does not matter if it is a Nikon or Tamron Lens;

Sometimes it helps to release the lens and click on again - several times.  If you say clean the contacts please tell ne how, and with what.

Thanks

Get some Deoxit Gold and clean the contacts on both lenses and camera. I find the brush-on or needle applicator versions easiest to use, easier than the spray versions.

Thank You.  I am new to this forum, how do you find answers to your questions.  I found you by searching "lens not attached".

You should get a notification email when someone posts in a thread that you follow. If you use the full version of the forum, there is a number beside the little bell pictogram at the top when you have unread notifications. If you use the mobile version, the notifications are there, under the pictogram with the four squares.

I tried the Deoxit and it seems to be working.  Thanks a lot for your help!

Just curious how long you've owned the D5600. It's a newer model and shouldn't have issues with contact corrosion.

Snorky, the D5600 has been out for well over 2 years now even if it is still current. Contact issues don't have to be caused by corrosion, sometimes contamination of some kind is the culprit. Deoxit works for both problems.

Well that's true. I do occasional electronics repair and am used to old metal tarnishing or battery corrosion issues.

I have had the 5600 for about 4-5 months.  It was listed as "new" on Amazon- but I have my doubts.
