Hello,

I was wondering if the community members can please help?

I have just got Nikon D3400 DSLR camera with t ring to fit instead of lens with a telescope attachment.

I am in a manual mode. with the lens taken out, I can change the ISO and shutter speed. I cannot however change the apperture by holding +/- button and rotating the dial.

If I attach the lens back to my DSLR I can change the apperture by holding +/- button and rotating the dial.

I was wondering if anyone can assist and advice where I am going wrong.

Thanks,

BineetD

As the aperture is a part of the lens, there is nothing for the body to control.

The telescope has a fixed light transmission that is what it is. You have to work with the two exposure parameters you can control, that is shutter speed and ISO. Just play around and experiment with a shutter speed that is as slow as possible without blurring and then set an ISO that gives you the correct exposure.
