I would like to assign the trigger button to taking a still photo when I am in video camera mode so that while I am making a video, at some occasions I can make a still picture.  However, when I am in video mode and use Custom Control ssignment, I am not given the choice of assigning this trigger buttom to do that job.

How that is possible ?  What is the exact process to be able to do this?

You are not given that choice as it is the default setting and can not be changed as far as I can see. (Page 47 in the reference manual for firmware 2.0 and later.)
