Unintended multiple images

I am new to the D850. On taking a picture I get multiples of the same image. Why is that so?

Are you shooting in raw+?  If so, you'll get a jpeg and a raw file for each image.  This can also happen if you've opted to write to both cards at the same time.

Define multiple… 

If they are all RAWs (NEF) then Jerry's touching it.
If they are in two formats, RAW +jpg then Adam's got it.

Another point is to store shots parallel on two cards or the
two cards sequentially.

Could be bracketing is turned on generating 3 or more images at different exposure settings....
