i just purchase a D5600, and in playback mode the "Rating" option is greyed out, and when selected it gives me a "not available at cameras current settings or in current state" error message. I've read through the manual over and over, played with the settings, taking pictures in all different modes, and still cannot get the picture rating option to work. Has anyone had this error or know how to fix it?

Figured it out, if you have the camera in any "Image Quality" = "RAW" settings you loose the "Rating" feature. I would leave the "Image Setting" = "RAW" (Always Shoot RAW) then I would rate files using the Nikon NX-D software. after I having copied the files to the computer.

Try to turn off the Network connection in camera settings
go to wrench icon then bluetooth then Network connection.
it worked with me.
