I was wondering if anyone knows--I have an old Vivitar Series One 70-210mm AI zoom lens that I'd like to use with my D60 and recently acquired D5600.

Thing is... this lens is extremely heavy. That was never an issue with my Nikon F2 back in the day, but these newer DSLR's aren't built as tough. Can they support a lens that weighs 2lbs?

Thanks.

The current Nikon 70-200 f2.8 lenses are over 3 pounds and are not an issue.  Really, if you are shooting with the lens there is no stress on the mounting point.  It is really only when you have it hanging on a strap attached to the body.

As the mid 90-s plastic bayonet in the F50 could handle the 1400g 400/5.6 ED non-IF both handheld and on a tripod without problems you are quite safe.

I used an F50 for colour neg. shooting as it didn't take much room in the bag compared to bringing a third F4.

The collar on this lens was barely usable, so we all used it with the camera tripod-mounted for critical exposures as it vibrated less that way.
